M.Sc Clinical Psychology course commenced on 2 nd October 2022 by the Department of Clinical Psychology of Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences and is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
This postgraduate program provides students with the skills they need for a career in academia, research, and clinical practice. This program is one of its kind as it runs in a multispecialty hospital with Psychiatry Department, Child guidance clinic, Daycare centre, Research centre, Rehabilitation unit, Community health outreach programs, and Deaddiction facilities, which provides the students with wide clinical exposure in these fields.
This two-year, full-time program is taught on campus by experienced Clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, lecturers, and biostatisticians, providing a rich academic experience. Students are posted in the Psychiatric Outpatient Department and the Psychiatric Inpatient Department for observership with Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, and Psychiatric Social Workers, providing an opportunity to learn biopsychosocial management of people with various mental health issues. Throughout the course, students receive comprehensive training in a range of psychological assessments, psychotherapeutic techniques, and report writing. They are also encouraged to pursue independent research under the guidance of our primary faculty and research experts.
The number of people with a mental health crisis is on the rise and there is a paucity of trained mental health professionals all over the world, M.Sc. Clinical Psychology discipline provides a wide range of opportunities as this program acts as a tool for training mental health professionals who can work to promote mental health by working as counsellors in various settings like schools, universities, NGOs, and industries.
