Activities of the department:

  • As part of practical training, the students are posted to various departments of the hospital in order to get accustomed to the basic functioning of the departments in the hospitals in both clinical and non-clinical areas. Visits to various hospitals both in government and corporate sector are organized regularly and provide first hand exposure to various models of hospital functioning. This is an opportunity to understand the differences and advancement that healthcare sector is adopting day by day.
  • The department has introduced a very unique training experience called Trainee Administrator postings to nurture the administrative skills and competency of students. Students are given particular departments for two months where they are directly under the In-charge and work as an Assistant Administrator to the department. This enables the student to involve in the activities of the department actively, identify issues which needs immediate attention and is challenging to make valuable suggestions to improve that department.
  • Internship programme is developed to provide final year Hospital administration students with hands-on experience in other hospitals anywhere in the country for four weeks. This helps them further in placement where the student's accumulated knowledge and skill base prepares them for future employment within the health care industry. The training delivers important vocational skills and provides students with complementary workplace-based experience.
  • The Department of Hospital Administration conducts a National Conference periodically titled “HORIZON” and Workshop titled “TRENDS”. The students arrange the whole event with the guidance by Faculty covering backstage preparation, speaker arrangement, resources required and planning up to execution. They get an opportunity to interact with eminent speakers and learn from their vast knowledge and experience. The department conducts regular Guest lectures once a month. The guest speakers are from different fields and students are exposed to a wide stream of new innovations in the health care administration. Soft skills training are imparted to the students to develop their Leadership, Communication and Team building skills.
  • Journal club is organised regularly in a month and these sessions, are followed by discussions by faculty and students. These sessions enlighten the students regarding current topics in hospital administration worldwide. It helps students to develop their presentation skills including communication, overcome stage fear and acquire immense knowledge in their presentation topics.
  • Students participate in Co curricular programs organized by other colleges. In recent years several students have presented research papers in International and National conferences. Various extracurricular programs are conducted in the department that includes Fresher’s day, Christmas day celebrations, Teachers day, Onam celebrations, and Farewell function.
