OVERVIEW

Respiratory Therapy is a health care discipline that specializes in the promotion of optimum cardiopulmonary function, health, and wellness. Respiratory Therapists employ scientific principles to diagnose, treat and prevent acute or chronic dysfunction of the cardiopulmonary system, such as asthma, COPD (emphysema, chronic bronchitis) lung tumors, sleep disorders, and other disease and dysfunctions. Respiratory Therapists use a variety of high-tech equipment and techniques to diagnoses monitor and treat respiratory conditions.

The pulmonology department deals with the causes, diagnosis prevention and treatment of diseases affecting the lungs BSc Respiratory Therapy is a full-time undergraduate program. It is a four-year degree program. Out of these 3years training based and undertaken at the Respiratory Department in Father Muller Medical College, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.

The curriculum covers topics such as patient assessment, respiratory therapy interventions, and critical care. Pursuing advanced degrees is also an option. It offers a promising career path for those interested in helping patients with respiratory conditions
