OVERVIEW

The Community Medicine Department is located in the 2nd Floor of B Blockof Father Muller Medical College. The Department has the vision, “To Heal and Comfort the suffering humanity with compassion and respect” and for this, the Mission has always been of creating 5 Star Doctors i.e. To prepare the students to become quality community physicians having the essential skills of (i) Care provider(Family physician) (ii) Decision maker(Epidemiologist) (iii) Communicator(Health Communicator) (iv) Community leader (Health Advocate) and or (v) Manager(Health Manager).

With its vast network of Urban and Rural Health Centres, the Department strives to ensure that the students get wonderful opportunity to study the health and disease in the population of field practice area, to learn to identify their health needs, and to plan, implement and evaluate health programs to effectively meet these needs. Department of Community Medicine follows a unique small group teaching for effective learning by students in clinical subjects. The Department’s research covers Non Communicable diseases, Maternal and Child health, Communicable diseases like Malaria, HIV, Tuberculosis etc, Geriatrics and Health care: Accessibility and Quality.
