Father Muller Hospital was established in 1885 to heal and comfort the suffering patients in costal city Mangalore. In 1999 the undergraduate course commenced and a functioning casualty was introduced which was handled by Casualty Medical Officers. In 2019 the Department of Emergency Medicine was established with dedicated faculty of Anaesthesia and General Medicine along with Medical officers and Junior residents managing the 24 hours 7 days services. The department had 30 beds which includes 6 Intensive Care Unit beds, a Trauma Bay and an Emergency Operating Room attached to it. It caters to all surgical and medical emergencies of all age groups. Proximity to Imaging room is an added factor for early detection and dispatch of patients. We do have point of care diagnostics equipments to enable the multidisciplinary team in accurate and early diagnosis. The Emergency Medicine team is supported by concerned Medical, Surgical and all the Super specialty Departments of Father Muller Medical College.
