Oncology
The Department of Oncology has a comprehensive cancer care programme that follows Inter-disciplinary approach in adult and paediatric oncology for the optimum outcomes. Oncology is a branch of medicine with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer including breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma. The treatments are chemotherapy, radiation and Surgery. Chemotherapy is provided as a day care service in majority of the cases and central lines are placed to enable pain free chemotherapy.
The department follows an extensive medical approach with super-sub-specialists in Medical Oncology, Haematology – adult & paediatric, Specialised Onco Surgery. Cancer diagnosis is usually carried out by biopsy, CT scanning, endoscopy, blood tests among other methods.
