The Department of Medicine is the major clinical department in Fr Muller Medical College, as with any other medical college. The Department by imparting its ethical and social responsibilities plays a decisive role in medical education and health care delivery. We have significantly grown in academics, research, clinical care, and professional and patient education since inception. With the excellent inputs from Eminent Faculty, the Department has been keeping pace with advancements in medical science and technology without compromising the value based clinical art of Medicine. Imparting advancements to medical education and clinical care at affordable cost has been the top priorities of our Institution. Our endeavor in building the Department is well appreciated and supported by the Institution. This has been the critical factor in our success. We at the Department of Medicine feel there is much more to be done, and we are committed to becoming leaders in providing quality care.
Fr Muller Hospital was established in 1880, and for over a century it functioned as a Charitable Hospital. The institution was approved as post graduate training center for DNB in Medicine in 1989. and in 1992 was permitted by the MCI for the Post graduate program in Medicine (MD). In 1999 Father Muller Medical College was established and Fr Muller Hospital became part of the Medical College. With the committed services of the faculty, post graduates and supporting staff, the department has grown to five clinical teaching units, six sub-specialties and has an excellent infrastructure in clinical as well as teaching facilities.

The department has a large out-patient facility with independent consultation cubicles, help desk,spacious waiting area, demonstration rooms and lecture halls. Department has 180 teaching beds with 30 beds allotted to each clinical units. The department and sub specialties operate a well equipped MICU, ICCU, dialysis unit, respiratory care unit, neuro-physiology laboratory, and state of art cardiac cath laboratory.

Patient Out Reach Camps
The department is extending clinical services to the Urban and Rural health centers, charitable homes once a week. Also we conduct medical camps in rural areas of Coastal and Malanad regions of the State, on a regular basis.
