FMMCH LABORATORY - Hematology and Clinical Pathology

OVERVIEW

FMMCHL is a NABL accredited laboratory catering to the needs of in house as well as outside patients. It is the only lab in this region which is accredited for all the braches of medical lab (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Hematology & Oncology, Histopathology & Cytology). FMMCHL got the accreditation for the first time in 2012, reaccredited in 2014 , and the present accreditation is valid upto August 2016 . In the NABH assessment conducted in 2015, lab was considered as one of excellent departments in FMMCH.

Hematology and Clinical Pathology

The section of Hematology and Clinical Pathology carries out all routine tests, coagulation studies , urine analysis, stool analysis, semen analysis, etc.. The lab is equipped with ACL Elite Pro Coalgulation analyzer and Beckmann Coulter automatted blood counter. An automatted equipment is available for Urine analysis. The lab has external quality control programme with CMC Vellore and AIIMS New Delhi.

Histopathology and Cytopathology

In Histopathology, Direct immunofluorescence test for skin biopsies, new IHC markers (anti HSA, Anti TTF-1, Anti Epithelial specific antigen, anti cadhesin, Moc-31 and Calretinin are started. A semiautomatted IHC slide stainer is procured. Cytology section is doing immunocytochemistry on FNA smears and fluid smears.

Safety is given priority, and lab has procured eye wash stations , and grossing station is procured for safety in Histopathology.

Our Strength

FMMCHL has well qualified authorized signatories, technicians and other staff. The team comprising of lab director, quality manager, technical managers and deputy managers, monitors and maintains the quality of lab reports. FMMCHL has internal and external quality assurance programme in place . Staff are regularly trained and assessed to ensure competence.
