Father Muller College of Nursing

Father Muller College of Nursing is a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions a Registered Society sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Mangaluru. Established primarily for the benefit of the members of the Christian Community. It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bengaluru and recognized by Indian Nursing Council.

Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) started in the year 1880, by Fr Augustus Muller, a German Jesuit missionary.

With the addition of improved medical and surgical services, professionally trained nursing personnel were a felt need of the hospital. As a response to which a School of Nursing was founded in 1959.

In 1987 the College of Nursing came into existence with the Four Year B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course to keep pace with the rapid advancement in Health and Nursing Sciences. The Post Certificate B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course of two years duration for upgrading those with Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery was started in 1988. All these courses started under Mangaluru University.

In response to the pressing need of the professional Nurse leaders and nurse educators, Post – Graduate degree programme in nursing, was started in 1992 in 5 specialities under Mangaluru University.

Father Muller College of Nursing now stands as an “Edifice of Enlightenment and Empathy” has celebrated its glorious 25 years of its successful existence. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited Father Muller College of Nursing with 'A' grade, making it the first Nursing College under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, to be accredited.
