SNA

The Student Nurses' Association of Father Muller College of Nursing is one of the best platforms for the student nurses and it provides curricular and co-curricular programs, communicates issues and concerns relevant to nursing, encourages participation in community health-related activities and promotes legislative involvement of the nursing student. The SNA aids in the development of the whole person, his/her professional role and his/her responsibility for healthcare of people in all walks of life. SNA unit of our college strictly follows the Bye- laws of Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI).

AIM

The aim of the SNA is to provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interest concerns to nursing students. Membership in SNA aids in the development of the whole person, including the professional role.

OBJECTIVES

  • To uphold the dignity and honour of the nursing profession.
  • To promote participation in student community affairs.
  • To involve the students in intercollegiate sports and cultural activities.
  • To promote collaborative relationships with various health organizations.
  • To bring out the talents and confidence of the students for the upliftment of self and society.
  • To inculcate the value of espirit de corps.
  • To develop leadership abilities among the students.
  • To improve the students social contacts to enhance professional growth.

The Student Nurses' Association, popularly known as SNA, is a nation-wide organization of nursing students. It was established in 1929 at the time of annual conference of the TNAI in Madras. Ms. L.N. Jean, the Nursing Superintendent of General Hospital, Madras was instrumental in forming this association.

The Father Muller College and School of Nursing SNA unit was incepted on 1987 under the stewardship of then Principal, Lt Col Ms C Thyagarajan. Thereafter the SNA has grown in numbers and activities carried out by the students. Today over 600 students are members of SNA. This unit provides a great platform for the student nurses to acquire current and futuristic concepts and issues of nursing scope practice and prepares them with professional skills. This little student nurses association carrying out educational, cultural, social and scientific based activities which would enhance their all round development of personality.

All the under graduate nursing students of the Father Muller college of Nursing are the members of SNA. The registration fees Rs.200/- for new registration and subsequent years Rs150/- to the SNA.

ARTICLE IV MEETINGS

SNA meetings or meeting of the executive board will be held at least once a month, with prior notification, or as deemed necessary by the president. Agenda prepared by the SNA Advisor shall be approved by the President. Copies of the committee reports are filed in the President’s and Advisor’s file. SNA secretary maintains the report of all the activities carried out in the SNA unit.

ARTICLE V STANDING COMMITTEES

All the under graduate nursing students of the Father Muller college of Nursing are the members of SNA. The registration fees Rs.200/- for new registration and subsequent years Rs150/- to the SNA.

Section I: Programme /Cultural committee

SNA conducts various curricular and co-curricular activities for the students during the year.

Section II: Editorial committee

Students actively participate in the editorial committee of the college for the magazine ”Muller spring”. SNA unit collects the best articles from the students and hands over to the editorial committee of the college for its publication.

Section III: Disciplinary

SNA unit has the responsibility of maintaining the discipline of the students. Every year, students will be oriented towards the rules and regulations and uniform code in the college as well as in the clinical areas. They are also responsible to maintain discipline during various celebrations of the college of Nursing

Section IV: Finance committee

Finance committee maintains the statement of the accounts of the year and present during the e General body meeting.

Section V: Sports committee

The committee encourages the students to actively participate and organize the sports activities.

Section VI: Media Committee:

The SNA Media committee works with Media Committee of FMCON and publicizes the activities, achievements of student Nurses Association unit, in the Website of the Institution.

Article VII: Elections

SNA conducts election every year for the post of Vice President, Programme Co-coordinator, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer. The election of the officer’s bearers will be held at the beginning of the academic year. The class representatives will be selected by the respective class students.

The executive board consist of President (Principal of College of Nursing) .SNA Advisors(faculty of CON) & Vice President, Programme Co-coordinator, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer and 3 class representatives from the student body. The term of office will be for one year

The eligibility criteria for nominees and SNA executive posts are

Student should be an integrated person Student should be committed to the responsibilities given Student should always stand for the right and what the college management plans Student should lead an exemplary life especially in values, discipline and punctuality. Student should be intelligent, creative and active member Should not have been an executive in the previous years.

Article VII: Responsibilities of officers

Section I: President/ Committee Chairperson

The president is the representative of the SNA to the faculty.

The president presides at all meetings of the organization and of the executive board.

Section II : Vice President

The Vice-President acts as the coordinator of all committees.

The Vice-President will preside in the absence of the president.

Section III: Program co-coordinator:

The responsibilities of the cultural committee are carried out by the programme co-ordinator.

Section IV: Secretary

The Secretary will keep the record of the proceedings of all meetings.

The Joint Secretary will be responsible for all SNA communications.

Section VI: Treasurer

The treasurer will keep an itemized record in a permanent file of all receipts and expenditures and give written report during the meetings.

Section VII: Class Representatives

The responsibilities of the class representatives are:

To serve as liaisons between their respective classes, the SNA and faculty.

To communicate & relay pertinent information to their respective classes.

Section VII: SNA Advisors

SNA Advisors are the faculty of the College of Nursing

The SNA Advisors will be responsible for the coordination of student representatives to Student body.

SNA Advisor assists the president in carrying out the meeting and activities of the association.

The advisors will serve a term of one or two years. If unable to fulfill obligations, said advisor may appoint a new advisor with the executive board’s approval.

The Student Nurses Council of Father Muller College of Nursing has organized Cultural Fest of 2021- 2022 on 07.07.2022 and 08.07.2022. The program started with a prayer song at 8.30am in Academy Hall. The students of III Year BSc Nursing invited the audience through a captivating inaugural dance followed by that, the unveiling of the theme “ONEIRO 2K22- CHASE YOUR DREAMS” was done by Rev.Sr. Jacintha D’souza, Principal, FMCON.Ms Melissa Fernandes, Vice President, SNC Committee welcomed the gathering and encouraged the students of FMCON to take part in the Cultural Fest actively. Sr Jacintha D’Souza addressed the audience and informed everyone to participate and celebrate ONEIRO 2K22 at the fullest. The program kicked off with western and eastern singing in the academy hall from 9am-11am while science model competition took place in RajathBhavan. The other events like Face Painting, Stand up comedy and the pencil sketch were conducted in the morning hours and Fashion show competitions were done in the afternoon hours.

The second day was alluring with the multi color Bollywood theme attires of students. The second day was started with solo, duet and group singing competitions followed by the mesmerizing dance performance by the students. The audience encouraged and applauded after each performance. The program concluded by the dance programs of the faculty. The prize distribution and announcement of winners were done by Ms Wilma S Noronha, SSPC Chairperson and Ms Ramyashree S, SNC Chairperson during the Valedictory program. The overall champions of the student’s group were Team Callisto and Runner’s up were Team Aurora. Ms. AiswaryaShaji, Program coordinator thanked everyone for being an active part of the cultural Fest. The two days of Cultural Fest-ONEIRO 2K22 has came to end with a DJ Eve at Academy hall.

On the Occasion of International nurses day, The SNC unit of Father Muller College of Nursing organized a token of gratitude towards the Teaching Faculty 0n May 12th 2022by appreciating their contribution as a nurse. The 2ndyr BSC students decorated the college and the SNC members felicitated the faculty. Each department and students were asked to click pictures near the photo booth and be proud of the profession they have chosen.

On the occasion of International Nurses Day, the SNC unit of Father Muller College of Nursing and the School of Nursing organized a painting competition on 11th May 2022 under the guidance of Mrs. Ramyashree, SNC advisor at 3rd-year classroom. The participants were enthusiastic and were excited to start the competition.

The program began at 9.00 AM. 19 students were participated from both college and school of Nursing. The duration of the competition was 2 hours. The theme of the competition was “NURSES – A Voice To Lead” and the criteria for evaluation were based on creativity and originality, color balance, overall presentation, utilization of paper and overall impression of the painting. On the observance of Earth day, The SNC unit of Father muller college of nursing has organized the Best out of the waste competition on 28/04/2022 at Rajath Bhavan from 9 am to 12 pm. The students of school and college of nursing have active participation in the competition. Sr Jacintha Dsouza principal father muller college of nursing and Mrs. The ist prize winners were Sr Ranjini Joseph and Ms Juhi Sahani II ND PBBSC Nursing,II ND prize winners were Ms Angeline Sona babu ,Ms Angel savior IInd Year BSc Nursing ,and the III RD prize shared by Ms Emilin Biju and Ms Josna Manoj 3rd Yr BSc Nursing, Ashna Fiona lewis and Flavia Dsouza 4th Year BSc Nursing . Sr Jacintha Dsouza addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of waste material and its importance of management and awareness of waste among students The program concluded at 12 pm .

The Sports Committee of Father Muller School and College of Nursing has organised Sports Day-IGNITE 2K22 on 25th March 2022 from 8.30am to 5pm. The March past led by students of FMCON Band followed by students of all batches of GNM, BSc and PBBSc Nursing was the most captivating initial event of the day. Ms Ozita Ozwaid Dsouza, III Year GNM Nursing student welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. Dr Usha M, Assistant Professor, Department of speech and Hearing, FMCI, is a certificate holder of Basic mountaineering course with A Grade. She participated in various marathon events and she is also a solo hiker. She led various trekking groups as a Trek leader in peaks of western Ghats and high altitude trekking in Himalayan region. The Sports Day was officially inaugurated by hoisting the flag and release of balloons by the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries. The Torch Ceremony was the another spectacular event on the day led by Ms Gladys Dsouza, Ms Caroline Roshni Pinto, Ms Liza Rosario, Fr George Fernandos of IV BSc Nursing and Mr Colin Joseph, III BSc Nursing who represented University in various events. Ms Venessa Fernnades, Secretary, Sports Committee recited the oath for the Group leaders of the March past. Thereafter, the Chief Guest of the Day delivered her valuable message for the gathering. As she ends her message, Dr Usha M declared the meet Open. The Presidential address was delivered by Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, FMCI. The Program concluded at 9.30am after the Team March Off. The Physical education Instructor Ms Sushma K R along with the Sports Coordinator of FMCON Ms Ramyashree S and Ms Raina Mascarenhas of FMSON has initiated various events from 19th March to 24th March 2022 from 3.30 pm to 5.30pm for the students and faculty of School and College of Nursing. The track and group events were held on 25th March from 10am to 4pm. Students and faculties actively participated in all the events throughout the day. Sr Jacintha Dsouza, Principal, FMCON delivered a meaningful message to the students highlighting the importance of utilising all the facilities in the campus and to focus on their goals. The Director, FMCI has given the Presidential address by congratulating all the participants and winners of the Day. Ms Ramyashree S, Sports Coordinator announced the winners of various events of IGNITE 2K22. The dignitaries distributed the prizes and medals to the winners. Mr Abel Joseph, II BSc Nursing, Ms Nisha Clevita Sequeira, I Year GNM Nursing, Ms Shini Dsouza, I PBBSc Nursing bagged the individual championsip. The team Callisto won the overall championship. The program concluded at 5pm.

Father Muller College of Nursing SNA Induction Programme for the Office Bearers of 2021-22 was held in the Father Muller Academy hall on 5 March 2022 at 2 pm. The Programme began with a Prayer Song followed by Welcome Speech by the SNA Programme Coordinator Ms Aishwarya Shaji. Rev. Sr Jacintha D'Souza, Principal Father Muller College of Nursing, Sr Nancy Mathias, Principal Father Muller School of Nursing, Mrs Wilma Shalini Norohna, SSPC Chairperson and Mrs Ramyashree, SNA Advisor were the dignitaries for the programme. After which the annual report of 2020-21 was read by the Former SNA Secretary Ms Primika Crissy D'Souza. The annual budget was read by Former SNA treasurer Mr. Colin Joby Joseph. The Office bearers of 2020-21 were given a memento and certificate as a token of appreciation. The present year office bearers were welcomed with a bouquet of flowers. There after Indian lamp lighting as a symbol of new beginning followed by Oath taking ceremony which was lead by Sr. Jacintha D'Souza. The Student Nurses Association organized Fresher’s Day “NOVETA FIESTA2K22” to welcome and exhibit the talents of the fresher’s of 1st year BSc (N), 1st year PBBSC (N) & 1st year GNM on March 5th 2022 at Academy Hall. The entire Fresher’s of GNM, BSc and PBBSc performed their talents such as group song, various dances, humorous musical drama and many more . The newly elected Vice President Ms Melissa Fernandes addressed the gathering and then Presidential address by Sr Jacintha Dsouza.

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller College of Nursing organized a small get-together on the occasion of teachers day at 11.30 am in Syndicate hall, FMCON. The program began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song. The session was inaugurated by planting a sapling by the Principal,Vice principal and along with HODs of various Departments as a symbol of longevity and rebirth.Then the students gave a rose to each faculty as an expression of love and gratitude. Ms.Primika, SNA Secretary was the master of ceremony and Ms.Veena, Program Coordinator welcomed the gathering. At the end, there was a cake cutting moment with Teachers to celebrate the sweetness and joy of the day. About 57 lecturers and 15 student representatives were present . The program concluded with a vote of thanks.

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller College of Nursing conducted “PRAYER GATHERING” as a preparation for the final university exams on 16th November 2021 at 9.00 am in Rajath bhavan. The prayer service was led by the students of Jesus Youth under the guidance of Sr Dhanya Devasia, Professor& HOD of OBG Nursing. All the students who are going to appear for the University exams had devotionally participated in the prayer service. Symbolic offering was done by the representatives of each batch. All the intentions were placed before the Lord and asked for the blessing of wisdom and knowledge. Rev. Sr. Jacintha Dsouza, Principal, FMCON addressed the gathering and blessed the students and wished good luck for the exams. The gathering concluded at 10am.

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller College of Nursing has organized ‘Virtual Nurses Day celebration’ on 12th May 2021 through Google meet . The program started with a prayer song at 10am. Ms Jovita Dcosta, III Year BSc Nursing student mastered the event. Students of various batches expressed the significance of Nurses Day through various events like skit, group song etc. The glimpse of cultural fest was also presented during the program. Mrs Ramyashree, SNA Advisor announced the list of prize winners for the ONEIRO-2K21. Sr Jacintha DSouza , Principal, Father Muller College of Nursing delivered a message stressing on the need of upholding the spirit of nursing profession and congratulated all students for actively participating in cultural events and for celebrating Nurses day through online platforms. Ms Reshma, II PBBSc Nursing student expressed the vote of thanks on behalf of SNA. About 100 students and faculty joined in this virtual program and the recorded program sent to student groups.

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller College and School of Nursing has organized ‘Virtual Cultural Fest- ONEIRO 2K21’ on 10th &11th May 2021 through online platform. SNA Executives and faculties coordinated with the students of all batches and conducted various events through google meet and also through recorded videos .The Judges evaluated each event and list of winners were announced during Nurses Day program which was held on 12th May 2021. About 144 students participated in various events enthusiastically and showcased the talents creatively even during this pandemic situation to stay together. The programs were uploaded on You tube channel for everyone to view it.

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller College of Nursing organized fresher’s day program “NOVETA FIESTA 2K21” to welcome and showcase the talents of the fresher’s of 1st year BSc (N), 1st year PBBSC (N) & 1st year MSc (N) on January 16th 2021 at Rajath Bhavan. The program began by invoking god’s blessings through a prayer song. Ms Welcita Ferrao, Vice President of Student Nurses Association welcomed the gathering. The fresher’s of all batches performed various cultural activities to exhibit their talents. The participants could stun the audience by their mesmerizing performance.

On this occasion, Rev. Sr. Jacintha DSouza, Principal, Father Muller College of Nursing addressed the gathering and congratulated the fresher’s for their captivating performance. Ms. Primika Dsouza, Secretary of Student Nurses Association delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Melissa of 3rd year BSc (N) was the host of the program. The programme started with prayer song led by IInd year PBBSc Nursing students.Ms Bency Benny 4th year Bsc nursing student welcomed the gathering .Ms Litty thomas ,4th year BSc nursing student and the former programme coordinator read the detailed activities of SNA and the report was passed. Last years budget and the expenditure was read by Mr Abin kuriakose,3rd BSc Nursing student and the former treasurer. Sr Jacintha Dsouza,Principal Father Muller College of Nursing administered the oath for newly elected office bearers and formally inaugurated SNA 2020-2021 by lighting the lamp. The Virtual Teachers Day celebration is organized by SNA and SSPC unit of father muller college of nursing on 05/09/2020 at 10am in the Syndicate Hall. The formal function started with Prayer song. Ms. Litty Thomas IVth Year BSc Nursing student welcomed the gathering. SNA executive members prepared a video on all the teachers which was displayed during the programme, Alumnae of Father muller college of nursing wished all the teachers. Students of 4th year BSc nursing performed Virtual Dance programme. Sr Jacintha D’Souza, Principal, Father Muller College of Nursing addressed the teachers and students. Dr Devina E Rodrigues Vice principal, HODs of all the department and all teachers and students were present for the programme. Vote of thanks was given by Ms. Sandra III Year student. The programme was compered by Ms. Sheryl 4th year BSc Nursing student. The program concluded at 10.45am.

IGNITE 2K20’ annual sports and athletic meet of Father Muller School and College of Nursing was conducted on 18-1-2020 at Father Muller stadium.

The programme began at 8.30 am by invoking God’s blessing through prayer. Mr. Anup Dcosta. Ekalavya Awardee, International volley ball player was the Chief Guest. Rev Fr. Ajith B Menezes, Administrator FMMC presided the event. Ms Giya Rose 2ND year Bsc nursing student extended a warm welcome to the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest.Sr. Jacintha Dsouza, Principal, College of Nursing and Mrs. Jasmine Sarita Vas Principal of School of Nursing, Fr. Nelson Dheeraj Pais, Assistant Administrator FMMCH, Mrs. Preema Pinto and Mrs. Sonia Dsouza Sports Coordinators, and Mr. Channakeshav Physical Education Instructor were present on the dais. The faculty of college and school of nursing, guest referees and the band master Mr. Vijay Olivera were present for the same.

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller College and School of Nursing has organized ‘Cultural Fest- ONEIRO 2K20’ on 14th &15th January 2020 at Academy Hall. The program started at 8.45 a.m. with a prayer song followed by inauguration of ONEIRO 2K20 by Dr Devina Rodrigues, Vice Principal, FMCON. SNA Secretary Ms Sandra Saji welcomed the gathering. Dr Devina Rodrigues delivered a motivational message highlighting the importance of Co-Curricular activities in moulding the overall personality of students. Thereafter, the cultural Fest started with a Western Vocal Group. Various events conducted in Academy Hall and Father Muller College of Nursing over two days. Overall Championship was bagged by Team Caldera of FMCON. The winners of the events were awarded with Medals, Certificates and Cash prizes at the end of the program .The Cultural Fest concluded on 15th January 2020 at 4.30 p.m.

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller College of Nursing, a Unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions organized ‘Christmas Celebration’ on 18/12/2019 at 2pm in the Academy Hall. The formal function started by the entry of students in batch wise to the Academy hall and the best dressed batch is judged by Dr Devina E Rodrigues, Vice Principal, FMCON and Mrs Seema Chavan HOD ,Department of Child Health Nursing. Ms Milu Mariya Jose, Vice President, SNA welcomed the gathering. Students of BSc (N) and PBBSc (N) participated in Carol Song Competitions. Dr Sanjay George Fernandez, Associate Professor, Dept of Anatomy and Sr Jacintha DSouza, Principal, FMCON were the judges of the competition. Rev.Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions delivered the Presidential address and Sr Jacintha D’souza gave the Christmas message. Faculty of College of Nursing performed a Christmas theme skit. Ms Wilma S Noronha, Chairperson of SSPC announced the prizes of Geethanjali Competition and Ms Ramyashree S, SNA Advisor announced the winners of games & songs. The formal function started at 2pm with Prayer song. Ms. Melissa Neomi Lewis, II Year BSc Nursing student welcomed the gathering. All the Freshers of GNM, BSc, PBBSc and MSc showcased their hidden talents. Rev.Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions delivered the Presidential address. Sr Jacintha D’Souza, Principal, Father Muller College of Nursing also addressed the audience. Ms Ramyasree S, SNA Advisor &Sports Committee Coordinator announced the winners of Inter College Athletic Meet 2019 and Rev.Fr. SNA unit of Father Muller College of Nursing organized the annual election 2019-20 on 5-11-2019 at 8:30 in the Rajath Bhavan.the faculty and studnets of BSc,PBBSc and MSc were given opportunity to cast their vote. The former SNA executives Ms.Anitta, Ms.Nimisha, Ms.Angel along with the other SNA members were present at the venue during the election and it ended at 1:00 pm. SNA election of 2018-2019 was conducted on 6 th December 2018 in Rajath Bhavan. The voting took place in the guidance and presence of Sr.Jacintha DSouza, President of SNA, Mrs.Victoria D’Almieda, Vice Principal, Mrs. Shiji P.J, SNA advisor and SNA representatives. The results were declared and then following executive members were elected.

Father Muller College of Nursing organized an induction ceremony for newly elected SNA executive members on 7 th December 2018 at 3.30pm in Rajath Bhavan. Rev.Sr.Jacintha DSouza, SNA President implemented the oath for the newly elected members.

The Fresher’s day “Novato Fiesta 2k18” of Father Muller School and College of Nursing was held on 16 th November 2018.

Rev.Fr. Richard Coelho, Director FMCI presided over the program. Sr,Jacintha DSouza, Principal FMCON, Sr. Janet DSouza ,Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Jasmine Saritha Vas, Principal FMSON, where the present on the occasion. Freshers of BSc, MSc, PBBSc, and GNM batch showcased their talents.

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller College of Nursing organized Christmas celebration for staffs and students on 17 th December 2018 at 2pm in the Academy hall.

Students and staffs performed variety of program like Christmas carols, story of Jesus birth, dance, and drama depicting the Christmas message. Rev Fr George, Spiritual Director, FMCI gave the Christmas message. Rev.Sr. Jacintha D’Souza Principal FMCON addressed the gathering. The prizes were distributed for the various competitions which were held based on this occasion.
