Father Muller Charitable Institutions and Alma Mater

Father Muller Charitable institutions had a very humble beginning in the year 1880, when a Germen Jesuit missionary started dispensing homeopathic medicines to the ailing poor under a banyan tree. Though it was stared as a leprosy hospital, as need arose an allopathic hospital was started and the care was extended to all patients suffering from various diseases.

Father Muller College of Nursing is a unit of Father Muller Charitable institutions a registered society sponsored by catholic diocese Mangalore; is a religious minority educational institution established primarily for the benefit of the members of the Christian community. It open, like all other educational institutions under the catholic auspices, to all persons irrespective of religion, caste or community and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of health science, Karnataka, Bangalore and recognised by Indian Nursing council

With increased need of professionally trained nursing personal the school of nursing was founded in 1959. In 1987 the college of nursing came into existence with Four year B.Sc Nursing Degree course and the Post Certificate B.Sc Nursing Degree course of two year duration was started in 1988.as a response to the pressing need of the profession for teachers and nurse leaders a Post Graduate Degree programme namely M.sc Nursing was stated in 1992.

History

The thought of forming an Alumni Association for the College of Nursing dawned in the minds of the former Principals, Ms. T.U. Annamma and Rev Sr Loredana Korah and the Constitution/Bye Laws of the Alumni Association were framed on 25th February 1992.

The dream became a reality during the Finale Celebrations of the Decennial year of the College of Nursing held on 5th December 1997, when the Alumni Association of Father Muller College of Nursing was inaugurated in the presence of Rev. Dr. Baptist Menezes, the former Director; Ms. T.U. Annamma, the former Principal and the Guest of Honour and first Principal Lt. Col. Ms. C Thiagarajan. Sr Loredana Korah briefed the members regarding the vision, objectives and policies of the Association and the office members and executive committee was formed.
